The MD 520N is a light utility helicopter manufactured by MD Helicopters. It is notable for its unique NOTAR (No Tail Rotor) system, which replaces the traditional tail rotor with a system that uses air circulation to counteract torque and provide directional control. This design enhances safety and reduces noise, making it suitable for operations in densely populated areas. A total of 110 new MD 520N helicopters were built by MD Helicopters. This figure includes a prototype that was converted from an older MD530F airframe. As of a few years ago, approximately 98 of these were still in active service.
