The Martin B-57B Canberra was a highly successful American-built, twin-engine jet tactical bomber and night intruder derived from the British English Electric Canberra. Entering service in 1954, it holds the historic distinction of being the first jet bomber in U.S. service to drop ordnance during combat. A total of 403 Martin B-57 Canberra's were built in the United States by the Glenn L. Martin Company. Out of this total production, the B-57B was the primary and most heavily produced variant, making up a massive portion of that number.
