The General Dynamics–Grumman EF-111A Raven (popularly known as the "Spark 'Vark" or "Electric Fox") was a highly advanced supersonic electronic-warfare aircraft operated by the United States Air Force from 1983 until its retirement in 1998. Converted from existing General Dynamics F-111A Aardvark fighter-bombers, its sole mission was to act as a flying electronic shield, blinding and jamming enemy air defense radars to protect friendly strike packages. A total of 42 EF-111A Raven electronic warfare aircraft were built. Rather than being manufactured from scratch, these were produced by converting existing General Dynamics F-111A strike bombers. The conversions were carried out by Grumman between 1977 and 1985.
