The Cessna AT-17 Bobcat is a twin-engine, five-seat advanced trainer and light transport aircraft designed by the Cessna Aircraft Company. First flown in 1939 as the commercial Model T-50, it was heavily utilized during World War II to bridge the training gap for military pilots transitioning from single-engine aircraft to heavy, multi-engine combat bombers like the B-17, B-24, and B-25. Because of its extensively wooden wing structure and fabric-covered fuselage, pilots affectionately nicknamed it the "Bamboo Bomber". A total of 5,422 Cessna AT-17 Bobcats (including all variant designations such as the T-50, UC-78, C-78, and the Canadian "Crane") were built between 1939 and 1944.
