Atlas Cheetah

The Atlas Cheetah is a South African fighter aircraft developed and produced by the aviation company Atlas Aircraft Corporation (now Denel Aeronautics). Originally built in the 1980s as a major, necessity-driven upgrade to the South African Air Force's (SAAF) Dassault Mirage III fleet, the Cheetah integrated advanced avionics and aerodynamic technologies derived from the Israeli-built IAI Kfir. Capable of reaching speeds up to Mach 2, the jet was designed to effectively counter Soviet-era threats like the MiG-23 during the South African Border War.
