The AIDC F-CK-1 Ching-kuo, widely known as the Indigenous Defense Fighter (IDF), is a twin-engine, multirole combat aircraft developed and manufactured by Taiwan's Aerospace Industrial Development Corporation (AIDC). Named after the late Taiwanese President Chiang Ching-kuo, it entered active service with the Republic of China Air Force (ROCAF) in 1994 to serve as a cornerstone of Taiwan's air defense. A total of 137 AIDC F-CK-1 Ching-kuo fighters were built for the Republic of China (Taiwan) Air Force. This total includes 131 production aircraft (comprising both A/B models and pre-production units) alongside 6 flight-test prototypes.
