The Tupolev Tu-154 is a Soviet-designed, three-engine, medium-range narrow-body airliner that served as the primary workhorse of Soviet and Russian civil aviation for several decades. Developed in the mid-1960s to replace older turbojet and turboprop fleets, it became the most mass-produced passenger jet in Soviet history, carrying roughly half of all Aeroflot passengers during its peak operational years. Commercial airline operations concluded in late 2020, though a few remain in limited use by government and military entities. A total of 1,026 Tupolev Tu-154 aircraft were built across all variants between 1968 and 2013.
