The Northrop F-5E Tiger II is a highly successful, supersonic, lightweight twin-engine fighter aircraft developed by the Northrop Corporation in the early 1970s. Serving as the second-generation upgrade to the F-5A Freedom Fighter, it was redesigned to be a cheap, easy-to-maintain, and highly agile air superiority fighter. Because of its compact design and stellar turning performance, the F-5E achieved massive export success globally and became famous for its role as an "Aggressor" aircraft, mimicking Soviet MiG-21 tactics to train frontline U.S. Navy and Air Force pilots.
