The Piper Cheyenne III is a twin turboprop business aircraft that was developed from the earlier Cheyenne II. It was announced in 1977 and first flew in 1979. Deliveries began in June 1980.  The  Piper Cheyenne III is a capable twin turboprop aircraft known for its cabin comfort and performance, although the aircraft's high fuel consumption and past issues with systems like fuel controls, electrical, and air conditioning led to the introduction of the improved IIIA variant. A total of 89 Piper Cheyenne III (PA-42-720) aircraft were built. The primary visual difference between the II and III is that the latter has a T-tail.
