The Fieseler Fi 156 Storch (Stork) is a legendary German liaison, reconnaissance, and medical evacuation aircraft designed in 1935 and heavily utilized by the Luftwaffe throughout World War II. It is universally renowned for its pioneering Short Take-Off and Landing (STOL) capabilities, allowing it to operate from virtually anywhere. Approximately 2,900 to 3,900 Fieseler Fi 156 Storch aircraft were built in total. Around 2,900 units were produced in Germany during World War II (1937–1945), while post-war and licensed production in countries like France, Czechoslovakia, and Romania brought the grand total closer to 3,900.
