The Cessna 162 Skycatcher is a side-by-side, two-seat, high-wing light-sport aircraft (LSA) that was developed by Cessna Aircraft Company to serve as an affordable, modern primary flight trainer. Introduced in 2007 and produced between 2009 and 2013, the aircraft was engineered to replace aging fleets of Cessna 150 and 152 models. However, due to rising production costs, a controversial manufacturing shift to China, and thin payload margins, the program was a commercial failure and was officially canceled in 2014 after fewer than 200 units reached customers.
