The Aero L-159 ALCA (Advanced Light Combat Aircraft) is a Czech-built subsonic light combat aircraft and advanced jet trainer produced by Aero Vodochody. Designed primarily for close air support, tactical reconnaissance, and light air-to-air missions, the aircraft first flew in 1997 and entered service with the Czech Air Force in 2000. It was derived from the Aero L-59 Super Albatros, which itself evolved from the famous Cold War-era L-39 Albatros trainer.
