The Saab 91 Safir is a highly-regarded, single-engine, propeller-driven aircraft. Manufactured by the Swedish aerospace company Saab AB, it first took to the skies in 1945 and quickly established itself as a premier primary trainer and touring aircraft. With its excellent handling characteristics and durable construction, the Safir served in various air forces and flight schools globally, including the Swedish Air Force where it was designated the SK 50. A total of 323 Saab 91 Safir trainer aircraft were built. Production ran from 1946 to 1966. The aircraft were manufactured across two locations: 203 were built by Saab AB in Linköping, Sweden, and 120 were produced under license by De Schelde in Dordrecht, Netherlands.
