The Mitsubishi MU-300 Diamond is a twin-engine light business jet designed by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries. Introduced to expand on Mitsubishi's successful MU-2 turboprop, it made its first flight on August 29, 1978. Though production under Mitsubishi was relatively short-lived, the airframe's advanced engineering allowed it to survive for decades under different names, eventually evolving into the widely recognized Beechjet 400 and Hawker 400 series. Mitsubishi built a total of 92 MU-300 Diamond aircraft. This includes two prototypes, 61 production units of the original Diamond I, 27 units of the upgraded Diamond IA, and two initial models of the Diamond II.
