The Maule M-5 is an American four-seat, high-wing cabin monoplane designed by Belford Maule and manufactured by the Maule Aircraft Company between 1974 and 1983. Renowned in the general aviation community as a rugged backcountry aircraft, it features excellent Short Takeoff and Landing (STOL) capabilities, a steel-tube and fabric fuselage, and a distinctive oversized tail design. 855 Maule M-5 aircraft were built between 1974 and 1983.
