The Kawasaki T-4 is a Japanese subsonic, twin-engine intermediate jet trainer aircraft developed and manufactured by Kawasaki Heavy Industries. It is operated exclusively by the Japan Air Self-Defense Force (JASDF), largely due to historical restrictions on Japanese military hardware exports. It serves as a vital stepping stone for student pilots transitioning to advanced fighter jets like the F-15J and F-35. A total of 212 Kawasaki T-4 aircraft were built. This includes 208 production models and 4 XT-4 prototypes. The aircraft entered service with the Japan Air Self-Defense Force (JASDF) in 1988 as an intermediate jet trainer and remains the primary aircraft for the Blue Impulse aerobatic team.
