The Hispano Aviación HA-1112-M1L "Buchón" (often referred to by its Spanish military designation C.4K) is a post-WWII, license-built variant of the famous German Messerschmitt Bf 109G-2, manufactured in Seville, Spain. Because Spain could not acquire the original Daimler-Benz DB 605 engines after the war, they re-engineered the airframe to fit a British Rolls-Royce Merlin 500-45 engine. This modification required a deep chin intake, giving the aircraft its characteristic "pigeon breast" silhouette and the nickname Buchón (Spanish for a type of pouter pigeon). A grand total of 239 overall Hispano Aviación HA-1112 airframes of the HA-1112 family were produced.
