The Bell 47J Ranger is an American single-engine, single-rotor light helicopter produced by Bell Helicopter. Introduced as an executive variant of the legendary Bell 47 series, it holds the historic distinction of being the first helicopter to officially carry a President of the United States. President Dwight D. Eisenhower first flew in an H-13J (the military designation for the 47J) in 1957.A total of 361 Bell 47J Ranger helicopters were built . This production run included various civil and military sub-variants, including the executive transport versions and the famed early presidential helicopters.
