The Howard 500 is an American twin-engine propeller executive transport aircraft built in the early 1960s by Howard Aero Incorporated. Designed by Dee Howard and Ed Swearingen, it represents the final radial-piston passenger transport aircraft ever constructed before turbine-powered aircraft came to dominate business aviation. A total of 17 Howard 500 aircraft were built to the full specification in the early 1960s. While some sources mention up to 22 units, 17 is generally cited as the final production number for the pressurized, radial-engine executive transport. Only two of these aircraft remain in airworthy condition today, both based in Minnesota in the United States.
